Services :: Distribution Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 3.5%2:54 PM MDT | September 29, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 3.5% year-on-year for the week ended September 24, to 42,419 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported. U.S. traffic was up 2.4%, to 29,773 cars. Canadian traffic rose 6%, to 11,380 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 8.2%, to 1,266 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week’s totals, though it fell in Canada and Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 1.6% year-on-year last week, to 399,579 cars, AAR says.
