Services :: Distribution Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 3.1%10:48 AM MDT | April 26, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 3.1% year-on-year during the week of April 11, to 42,864 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported today. U.S. traffic was up 3.2%, to 30,246 cars. Canadian traffic rose 1.3%, to 11,256 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 17.8% to 1,362 cars. Traffic fell slightly from the prior week's totals, though it rose in the U.S. and Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 1.1% year-on-year last week, to 388,271 cars, AAR says.
