Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 13.3%

North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 13.3% year-on-year last week, to 45,756 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported. U.S. traffic was up 8,9%, to 29,038 cars. Canadian traffic rose 26.1%, to 15,575 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 15.5%, to 1,143 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals. Overall, freight rail traffic in North America was up 11.1% year-on-year last week, to 392,154 cars. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has generated 1,684,963 cars of rail traffic, up 13.9% from 2009...
