Services :: Distribution Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 1.6%3:54 PM MDT | August 11, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 1.6% year-on-year last week, to 39.996 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 0.7%, to 28,967 cars. Canadian traffic rose 2.7%, to 9,861 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 16.7%, to 1,168 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week's totals, though it rose in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 0.8% year-on-year, to 373,732 cars, AAR says.
