Services :: Distribution Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 0.8%5:35 PM MDT | October 27, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 0.8% year-on-year during the week ended October 22, to 40,910 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 2.9%, to 29,420 cars. Canadian traffic fell 5.6%, to 10,388 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 15.2%, to 1,102 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week’s totals, though it fell in Canada. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 1.1% year-on-year during the week ended October 22, to 397,410 cars, AAR says.
