Brenntag, Univar, and 2 other distributors fined €79 million for fixing prices in France

The French competition authority says it has fined Brenntag, Univar, Caldic (Rotterdam), and Solvadis (Frankfurt) a combined €79 million ($102 million) for "coordinating prices" and "artificially allocating customers" in the commodity chemical distribution market in 4 regions of France. The price-fixing activities took place between 1998 and mid-2005 in the Burgundy, Rhône-Alpes, northern, and western regions of France, the competition authority says. Brenntag, Caldic, Univar, and Solvadis together account for up to 80%...
