Biesterfeld posts increase in annual sales

Biesterfeld (Hamburg), a leading pan-European chemical distributor, says its operating profit slipped in 2013, to €29.4 million, with sales up 6%, to €1.06 billion. The company says it maintained its steady growth in a challenging market environment. The slight decrease in profit reflects "inconsistent price and margin trends, particularly in the plastics and natural rubber industries, as well as weak international trade stimuli," the company says.
