Services :: Consulting S&P: Chemicals Sector Credit Ratings Improving9:39 AM MDT | April 15, 2010 | Vincent Valk Credit ratings in the chemicals sector will continue to improve through the rest of this year, according to a report by Standard and Poor's (S&P; New York), the ratings agency. Improving earnings and economic conditions, more favorable debt markets, and refinancing moves that have pushed out maturities are all contributing to positive ratings actions. S&P upgraded five companies during the first-quarter, and downgraded none. The five upgrades were assigned to Lubrizol, Hexion, NewMarket, Ashland and Solutia.
