Second Half Outlook

The recent U.S. slowdown has clouded industry’s outlook for full-year 2011. The U.S. clearly hit a soft patch in the second quarter, Fried-Walter Münstermann, executive v.p. and CFO of BASF Corp, told attendees of CW’s Chief Financial Officer conference, held last week in New York. Global manufacturing growth, though still positive, has also “cooled,” with rates of improvement easing in Europe, the U.K., China, and India, Münstermann says. BASF still remains “firm” in its previous forecast for 2011 global GDP growth...
