Ethylene capacity is expected to reach 28 million m.t. in 2011, doubling from 14 million m.t. in 2007, according to CMAI (Houston). The region now accounts for almost 20% of global ethylene capacity, compared with only 11% in 2007. Expansions will continue but at a slower pace than the 20%-25% annual rate of the past few years.
