M&A Ends Its Holiday

The end of 2010 has brought a flurry of activity, as industry merger and acquisition (M&A) recovers from its worst slump in recent memory. Yule Catto (Harlow, U.K.) last week agreed to acquire PolymerLatex (Marl, Germany) from private equity firm TowerBrook Capital Partners (London) for €443 million ( p. 6). Lanxess won the bidding for DSM’s elastomers unit for €310 million ( p. 11). Among private equity firms, Bain Capital (Boston) signed a deal for chemical distributor IMCD Group (Rotterdam) ( p. 11) while Arsenal Capital capped a couple of adhesives...
