The toll on human life from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan has been huge, and the impact on Japan’s economy and chemical sector will be severe over the next few months. Four naphtha crackers, accounting for about 23% of Japan’s ethylene capacity, remained offline at CW press time last Thursday.
