Concerns about deterioration in the economy seem to have put a chill on chemical industry investment in 2012. Some investments are proceeding, but mainly in areas where the outlook and tailwinds are undeniably strong regardless of current weakness, such as those tied to the reemerging US low-cost feedstock position.
