Emerging Strength in 2008?

Efforts by U.S. chemical makers to increase exposure to China and other emerging markets appear to be helping them cope with weakness at home. PPG Industries reported a 30% year-over-year earnings gain last week, and notched 5% volume growth, the strongest quarterly volume gain in three years (p. 8).
