The 2008 U.S. presidential election is likely to bring legislative and regulatory activity to a crawl as both parties turn attention to presidential campaigns. “Not much is likely to be seen on the policy front,” ACC CEO Jack Gerard said last week. “It will be more about scoring political points.” Major legislative action in critical areas such as energy and climate policy is not likely until after the 2008 elections, analysts say.
