Chemical Week Magazine :: Top of the Week Verenium Starts Up Pilot for Cellulosic Ethanol10:03 AM MDT | April 8, 2008 | Alex Scott Biotech firm Verenium (Cambridge, MA) says it has opened a next-generation cellulosic ethanol demonstration plant at Jennings, LA. Unlike standard biofuel technology the new facility is designed to convert the woody or cellulosic component of biomass into biofuel. The new demonstration facility has a manufacturing capacity of 1.4 million gal/year of bioethanol. The opening of the facility marks a “key development milestone” for the sector, the company says.
