Sasol Plans $4.5-Billion Ethane Cracker in Louisiana

Sasol says it is studying a world-scale ethane-based cracker and downstream derivative units at its Lake Charles, LA site, the latest investment in North America’s widening cost advantage in natural gas. Sasol estimates project investment will total $3.5 billion-$4.5 billion, including a cracker that can produce 1 million-1.4 million m.t./year of ethylene, and downstream derivatives.
