Chemical Week Magazine :: Top of the Week McKinsey Study Finds Industry is Net Saver of GHG Emissions7:57 AM MDT | July 10, 2009 | Alex Scott and Kara Sissell A study by McKinsey and Co., commissioned by the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), has concluded that the chemical industry enables net savings of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions or more than double industry emissions. For each ton of carbon dioxide-equivalent (CO 2 e) emitted by the chemical sector, its products eliminate 2 m.t.-2.5 m.t. of CO 2 e, the report says. By 2030, the emissions abatement potential of industry products could increase that ratio to more than 4 m.t. of CO 2 e abatement for each ton generated during production...
