Chemical Week Magazine :: Top of the Week Ineos Silicas Merges with PQ Specialty Chemicals Firm9:25 AM MDT | October 16, 2007 | Michelle Bryner Ineos says it plans to merge its Ineos Silicas subsidiary with PQ Corp. (Malvern, PA), a specialty chemicals producer recently acquired by The Carlyle Group (Washington). Carlyle will own 60% of the merged company, which will take PQ Corp.’s name, and Ineos will hold the remainder. PQ competes with Ineos SiIicas in the silicate and zeolite markets. Financial terms were not disclosed. Ineos announced two years ago that it was looking into the divestment of its silicas business because of a lack of synergies between the subsidiary and the other Ineos...
