Ineos Silicas Merges with PQ Specialty Chemicals Firm

Ineos says it plans to merge its Ineos Silicas subsidiary with PQ Corp. (Malvern, PA), a specialty chemicals producer recently acquired by The Carlyle Group (Washington). Carlyle will own 60% of the merged company, which will take PQ Corp.’s name, and Ineos will hold the remainder. PQ competes with Ineos SiIicas in the silicate and zeolite markets.
