Ineos Silicas Merges with PQ Specialty Chemicals Firm

Ineos says it plans to merge its Ineos Silicas subsidiary with PQ Corp. (Malvern, PA), a specialty chemicals producer recently acquired by The Carlyle Group (Washington). Carlyle will own 60% of the merged company, which will take PQ Corp.’s name, and Ineos will hold the remainder. PQ competes with Ineos SiIicas in the silicate and zeolite markets. Financial terms were not disclosed.
