European Authorities Reject Bid to Revise BPA Standards

A European Food Safety Authority (EFSA; Brussels) advisory panel has concluded there is no scientific data to support revising its Tolerable Daily Intake (TDI) level for bisphenol A (BPA) in food packaging. EFSA’s review of BPA examines studies conducted between 2007 and July 2010, and determines that those studies showing potential adverse health effects linked to BPA exposure in laboratory animals could not be considered valid due to methodological shortcomings.
