Europe to probe Ineos-Solvay PVC venture

The European Commission has opened an in-depth investigation into plans by Solvay and Ineos to merge their chlorovinyls activities in Europe into a 50-50 joint venture. The commission says its preliminary investigation indicated competition concerns in the market for suspension polyvinyl chloride (S-PVC) and sodium hypochlorite.
