Dow Plans Petchem JV in Libya; Eyes Ethane Cracker

Dow Chemical and Libya’s state-owned National Oil Corp. (NOC; Tripoli) have announced plans to form a joint venture to refurbish and operate NOC’s Ras Lanuf petrochemical complex in Libya, on North Africa’s Mediterranean coast. The Ras Lanuf site, built in the early 1980s, currently has capacity for 330,000 m.t./year of ethylene, 170,000 of propylene, 130,000 m.t./year of mixed C4’s, and 325,000 m.t./year of pyrolysis gasoline.
