BASF to restructure construction chemicals in Europe

BASF has announced plans to restructure its construction chemicals business in Europe, citing declining markets, particularly in southern Europe and the UK. The planned measures will affect about 400 positions. “The construction industry in many European countries continues to be challenged,” says Tilman Krauch, president/construction chemicals at BASF. Construction activity in Portugal and Spain has plummeted to below 50% of pre-crisis levels and continues to decline, BASF says.
