Chemical Week Magazine :: Top of the Week BASF Acquires Seed Treatment Firm Becker Underwood for $1.2 Billion7:16 AM MDT | September 21, 2012 | —Rebecca Coons BASF says it plans to acquire biological seed treatment maker Becker Underwood (Ames, IA) from Norwest Equity Partners for €785 million ($1.02 billion). Becker is expected to have sales of $240 million for fiscal year 2012 ending September 30. BASF’s crop protection division plans to create a strategic global business unit called functional crop care.
