US economy on upswing, Europe showing signs of life

Recent economic data indicate key economies are poised to pick up steam in the second half of 2013 and into 2014. Strong housing markets and consumer-driven production gains are set to accelerate US growth, while Europe, led by Germany, is looking to regain momentum after reporting its first quarter of positive GDP growth in 18 months. While growth in China has been subdued in 2012 and 2013, there are some indications that its economy is stabilizing.
