Rockwood to Buy Australian Lithium Producer for $730 Million

Rockwood Holdings says it has agreed to acquire Talison Lithium (Perth, Australia) for about C$724 million ($730 million). Talison shareholders will receive C$6.50/share, a 53% premium to Talison’s closing price on August 22, the day before the deal was announced. Talison produces lithium concentrate at Greenbushes, Australia from lithium ore. The company says it exports more than 350,000 m.t./year of lithium products.
