Chemical Week Magazine :: Specialty Chemicals Wacker Starts Up Silicon Plant in Germany2:25 PM MDT | October 17, 2011 Wacker Chemie has begun producing hyperpure polycrystalline silicon at its Nünchritz, Germany site. First deposition reactors at the new production complex have already ramped up production of polysilicon for sale, and the plant will begin to operate at its full capacity rate of 15,000 m.t./year during the second quarter of 2012, Wacker says. Production has started three months earlier than Wacker’s original timetable. The company says it has invested about €900 million ($1.2 billion) in the new plant.
