Shifts in regional balances, miners’ priorities are ahead

the global mining chemicals industry will grow solidly from 2013 through 2018, according to a new report from IHS Chemical. Total worldwide consumption of mining chemicals, which stood at 889,000 m.t. in 2013, is expected to grow by 4.2%/year through 2018, reaching 1.09 million m.t. by that year. Grinding aids, which are used primarily in cement production, are expected to lead growth for the next five years.
