Rough Ride for Shippers Amid High Rates, Tight Capacity

Chemical shippers will continue to have a rough ride on all modes of transport this year, as fuel costs are high and capacity remains tight. Several carriers have announced new fuel surcharges this year. Some chemical companies say that service, particularly on railroads, remains a problem.
