Chemical Week Magazine :: Specialty Chemicals Pigment Prices Rise on Short Raw Material Supplies in China10:43 AM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Clariant and Ciba Specialty Chemicals say they have raised prices on certain products globally to offset rising raw material costs. Both companies blame unspecified plant closures in China for declining supplies of raw materials. Ciba says it will raise prices for several of its pigments by 10%-20%. Ciba declined to say which raw materials costs rose, but says that “a number of key raw materials for the production of pigments saw dramatic price increases.” The company says its price hikes result “from significant increases in raw material costs...
