Chemical Week Magazine :: Specialty Chemicals LDK Solar Plans to Triple Polysilicon Capacity by 20132:12 AM MST | November 22, 2011 | —REBECCA COONS LDK Solar (Xinyu, China) has broken ground on a 30,000-m.t./year polycrystalline silicon manufacturing plant at Hohhot, China. Production at the site, along with other initiatives, will increase its polysilicon production capacity more than three-fold by 2013, the company says. LDK’s LDK Silicon & Chemical Technology subsidiary currently has the capacity to produce 17,000 m.t. annually. Ongoing debottlenecking and hydrochlorination projects at the company’s existing Mahong and Xiacun plants, and an additional line at Xiacun, will boost LDK’s...
