A study by the Silent Spring Institute (Newton, MA), including a review of 213 cleaning products, cosmetics, personal care, and other common consumer products, shows they contain “complex mixtures of endocrine disruptors and asthma-related compounds,” and that “toxicological studies of these mixtures are needed to understand their biological activity.” Consumers may be able to avoid certain substances including synthetic fragrances or bisphenol A using purchasing criteria...
