Flame Retardant Demand Weighs on Earnings Results

Producers in the $24-billion global plastics additives market say slow flame retardant demand drove down third-quarter profits, but that results for other polymer additives were up. Higher costs also negatively impacted results, but suppliers say they have nominated several price increases to help lift profits (CW, Oct. 10/17, p. 32). Rohr: Seeing some improvement.
