Elevance advances Natchez plant

Elevance Renewable Sciences says it has authorized the next significant stage of its second world-scale biorefinery at Natchez, MS, following “robust customer activity and demand forecasts” for its Inherent-brand biobased chemicals. Elevance’s first world-scale biorefinery—a $40-million, 180,000-m.t./year facility at Gresik, Indonesia, that is jointly owned by agrobusiness giant Wilmar International—was commissioned in July. The company says it expects the Natchez site to begin operations in 2016 and have a capacity of approximately 280,000 m.t./year...
