EFSA establishes daily intake limits for sunset yellow food additive

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA; Parma, Italy) says that is has established an acceptable daily intake (ADI) of four milligrams per kilogram body weight per day for the food color sunset yellow FCF (E 110). Sunset yellow is an azo dye authorized as a food additive in the European Union. Experts conclude that estimates of consumer exposure are well below this new ADI for all age groups, the authority says.
