Bayer MaterialScience Buys Medical Technology Firm

Bayer MaterialScience says it has entered into an agreement to acquire medical technology firm PolyBioMed (Sheffield, U.K.). Financial terms were not disclosed. PolyBioMed, a subsidiary of Lombard Medical Technologies, provides polymer coatings, surface treatments and biomaterials to the medical device industry. Bayer MaterialScience says the acquisition gives it access to application areas including coronary drug-eluting stents plus catheter systems for interventional cardiology, urology, and neurology.
