Asia/Pacific Region Leads Market Growth Through 2011

Global demand for flame retardants will grow about 4.7%/year to 2.2 million m.t. in 2011, valued at an estimated $4.8 billion, according to a recent study by The Freedonia Group (Cleveland). Asia/Pacific will lead demand with growth at slightly more than 7%/year through 2011 (chart). Increased use of flame retardants in developing countries that are adopting stricter fire safety regulations will drive much of the demand growth, the study says. Another driver will be an increase in overall demand for the use of plastic construction materials, the report says...
