West Virginia Governor Seeks Law to Speed Accident Notifications

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin (D.) will push for a bill requiring industrial facilities to notify state officials within 15 minutes of an industrial accident that requires emergency response, Manchin’s aides say. Manchin will push for the bill when the legislature reconvenes next February and will seek an agreement from industry to voluntarily comply with the accelerated response time until legislation is passed, aides say.
