U.S. Academy to Review EPA IRIS Program

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS; Washington) says it will conduct an assessment of EPA’s Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS). This review is distinct from a previous NAS assessment that focused on specific IRIS findings. The newly announced review will be comprehensive and stems in part from concerns of government officials, as well as some industry representatives and lawmakers, that there are problems regarding the quality of data used to make IRIS assessments.
