Senate May Shift Portions of Energy Bill to Farm Legislation

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee is considering shifting all or some of the biofuel provisions of its stalled energy bill to the 2007 farm bill, in case the energy bill fails, sources say. The Senate’s version of the energy bill requires biofuel production to ramp up to 36 billion gals/year by 2022, a sevenfold increase over production last year. Reid: Senate wants mandates.
