Chemical Week Magazine :: Regulatory SEC May Probe Dow Takeover Bid8:02 AM MDT | August 6, 2007 | Robert Westervelt The SEC has launced a preliminary inquiry into whether two former Dow Chemical executives secretly tried to put the company in play, according to industry sources. It is not clear whether the SEC will pursue a formal investigation of the matter, which would likely include a review of unusual trading in Dow stock that may have resulted, sources say. The inquiry may also look at a previously undisclosed $40-billion bid that Dow allegedly made to acquire DuPont last fall, published reports say.
