Chemical Week Magazine :: Regulatory Researchers Tally Impact of Neonicotinyl Insecticides on Bee Populations5:54 AM MDT | April 6, 2012 | —Alex Scott Number's Up: Research links exposure with decline in bee colonies. Researchers at Stirling University (Stirling, U.K.) and the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA; Avignon, France) have published separate studies linking the use of neonicotinyl insecticides with declining bee populations. The Stirling study found 85% of queen bumblebees—the foundation of future bee populations—die when exposed to relatively small concentrations of Imidacloprid, a neonicotinyl insecticide. Imidacloprid was developed and is produced by Bayer CropScience... This information is only available to Chemical Week subscribers. Forgot your user ID or password?
