Provision Protecting State Chemical Security Rules Becomes Law

President Bush yesterday signed into law a funding package that includes a provision that upholds states’ right to enact chemical plant security laws that are stricter than the federal standards. The language, written by Senator Frank Lautenberg (D., NJ), was attached to a massive government appropriations bill.
