Chemical Week Magazine :: Regulatory Nine Chemicals Added to Global Treaty Banning Hazardous Substances9:40 AM MDT | May 22, 2009 | Kara Sissell Representatives of more than 150 nations have agreed to add nine substances to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), an international treaty that initially targeted 12 substances that should be eliminated from global commerce and use. The UN Conference of the Parties met earlier this month in Geneva and agreed to add nine substances, or groups of substances, to the 2001 Stockholm Convention. The new substances are: alpha hexachlorocyclohexane; beta hexachlorocyclohexane; hexabromodiphenyl ether and heptabromodiphenyl ether...
