Legislators Eye Bill to Restrict BPA in Some Consumer Goods

Representative Edward Markey (D., MA) has introduced legislation that would ban bishpenol A (BPA) from food and beverage containers. The Ban Poisonous Additives Act would require retailers to stop selling food or beverage containers made with BPA within 180 days of the act’s passage. House lawmakers are also considering an amendment that would ban some children’s products that contain phthalates and BPA.
