Experts anticipate that advances in risk assessment will take a lot of the uncertainty out of regulatory requirements. The change is occurring because systems biology, “a heartbeat away from systems toxicology,” will facilitate a move away from tests on laboratory animals and toward increased use of tests using human cell-based systems, experts say.
