Chemical Week Magazine :: Regulatory EU to Ban HCFCs from 202011:45 PM MDT | March 12, 2009 | Alex Scott The manufacture of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC) will be banned in the European Union (EU) from 2020, under an agreement reached between EU member governments and the European Parliament. Production of HCFCs in the EU will be phased out in the run up to 2020. For the period between 2010 and 2013, production will be limited to 35% of production in 1997, dropping to 14% between 2014 and 2016, and 7% between 2017 and 2020.
