EU Ministers Agree on Energy Grid Deal

European Union (EU) energy ministers meeting at Luxembourg on June 6 agreed on a deal that allows former state energy monopolies to hold onto their ownership of gas and electricity transmission grids. The EU says the agreement marks significant progress in the EU’s plan to liberalise the region’s energy markets. The discussions failed to make any progress on energy in relation to climate issues and also failed to achieve a full “unbundling” of the ownership of energy infrastructure across the EU, however, some industry watchers say.  ...
