EU Chemicals Agency Lists 15 Substances of Very High Concern

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) has listed 15 substances of very high concern (SVHC) that “may” become subject to the authorization phase of the European Union’s (EU) Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (Reach) program. Chemicals subject to the authorization phase of Reach may be subject to market restrictions or even banned from use across Europe.   The agency’s Member State Committee (MSC) this week agreed on the status of 14 of the substances.
