EPA Region 5 Chief Resigns, Cites Dispute Over Dow Dioxin Cleanup

EPA Region 5 administrator Mary Gade has resigned under pressure from internal agency disputes involving oversight of Dow Chemical’s remediation plan for dioxin contamination near its Midland, MI facility, according to a recent article in the Chicago Tribune. Gade, a Bush administration appointee, quit in early May after being stripped of her powers and told to quit or be fired, the Tribune reports.
